HTTP status codes explained

HTTP status codes describe how a web server handled a request.

2xx — Success

Codes such as 200 usually mean the request succeeded.

3xx — Redirect

Codes such as 301 and 302 direct the browser to another location. Redirects are common and are not necessarily errors.

4xx — Request or access issue

A 403 usually indicates forbidden access; a 404 means the requested resource was not found. The server may still be online.

5xx — Server-side error

A 500 indicates an internal server error, while 502 and 503 can indicate upstream or availability problems.
